Recent Activites
In the past eighteen (18) months the Steveston Lifeboat, and its volunteer crew, have participated in a number of deployments, covering a variety of safety related activities, including the following:
Fishery Patrols News
While Search and Rescue (SAR) is the primary mandate for the Lifeboat, the fishery patrols are conducted to help prevent accidents from happening by leading commercial vessels, such as deep sea ships, tugs with tows and rail ferries, often carrying dangerous cargo, through areas congested with gill nets and fishing boats..
Other Lifeboat Deployments
The Steveston Lifeboat also deploys with the Naval Reserve forces conducting exercises such as Port Security. Participation in these exercises also ensures that the crew are familiar with the types of operation that may be required in the event of a natural disaster in the river or marine environment.
