The CLI was pleased to have the Fraser Lifeboat attend the SAR Demo day on 15 June 2019. Our vessel was on static display and able to be toured by delegates from all over the world. We received many favourable comments, including those from the Canadian Coast Guard. The live demos involved showing marine and air assets in action from the Royal Canadian Air Force, US Coast Guard, Canadian Coast Guard, RCM-SAR, Vancouver Police, Vancouver Fire, and the Vancouver Port Authority. We sent 2 members, our society President, Bob M and Coxswain David A to the presentations on 16-17 Jun 2019. There were many interesting topics including case studies, global SAR development, technical developments, improvement cycles, funding and messaging, pressure points, working the data, future challenges, mass rescue operations, SAR training assessment & support, and improving survival rates.

The CLI will certainly benefit from these topics as we look to integrate many of the solutions. Many organisations are now adding drone capabilities as well, something for us to consider. This was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for the CLI, and we thank the IMRF and RCM-SAR for including us.
